Santa Clarita Arts · Sidewalk Poetry Project 2019

Are you a poet at heart? Whether you're a budding artist or a seasoned writer, Santa Clarita Arts wants to see your best work.

Now through January 19th, submit your original work of poetry in the Sidewalk Poetry Project 2019 to win cash and more.

Residents of Santa Clarita are invited to create and submit a work of poetry in any format including Free Form, Haiku, Distich and Cinquain.

Winners will receive a $150 stipend for their submission and have the opportunity to discuss their work with a professor of poetry.

Poems must be five lines or less to qualify.

Eligibility and Prize Information

ELIGIBILITY: Open to all ages, no previous experience or publication necessary.

PRIZES: Winning entrants will each receive a $150 stipend and the chance to meet with a professor of poetry to discuss their work.

Poems must be no more than five lines with a maximum of 32 characters per line (including spaces).

The poem must be original work of the entrant and all submissions become the property of the City

Poems will be judged based on:

appropriateness of theme

use of language

emotional response

creativity
